STEP UP TO THE STANDARD

Credentialing Badge_2020-2

As a coach, you know your athletes come first. From health and well-being to performance, everything you do is to help them succeed. Staying on top of YOUR game is crucial for that success.

That’s why more than 7,000 coaches are credentialed each year, demonstrating their abilities to coach All Star Cheer and/or All Star Dance. They pledge to make athletes their top priority. Credentialing is a great way to get ready for the season and offers new and useful videos, resources and tools to enhance your game.

Cheer coaches attending The Cheerleading World Championship are required to be credentialed in either building, tumbling or both, up to the level in which their team competes.

Our athletes and their families deserve your best. Their expectations couldn't be any higher. Step up to the standard and earn your USASF Coach Credentialing today.

CHEER COACH CREDENTIALING

Cheer coach credentialing examines and tests coaches on their knowledge of each level's rules and verifies that coaches can safely teach and break skills down — primarily the most difficult skills allowed at each level for athletes. A candidate must pass the credentialing requirements of one level before advancing to the next higher level.

Credentialing starts with Baseline testing, which is included with membership. This is a one-time course that reviews general information about USASF and USASF policies.
Up next is taking the course from our partner, Positive Coaching Alliance. This is a one-time course that helps coaches explore why and how to pursue both winning and the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports. The fee for this course is $30 paid directly to PCA. Once completed you will not need to repeat this course again.
Your next steps are completing the appropriate level written testing (included with your membership) and practical testing with an instructor ($25, which includes up to 6 level tests) in either Building, Tumbling, or both. These tests verify your knowledge and understanding to teach and break down skills at each level to help keep your athletes safe and injury-free.

DANCE COACH CREDENTIALING

Dance coach credentialing demonstrates knowledge of the general dance rules to ensure the safety of athletes.

The fee for this course is $30. Once completed you will not need to repeat this course again.

Your next step is to complete the dance course and written testing that reviews the Dance Age Grid and General Rules, Individual Rules, and Group and Pairs Rules.

While coach credentialing doesn’t guarantee safety, replace the importance of first aid and CPR training or diminish the importance of other courses or clinics that help train coaches to be good leaders, be organized, use safe training practices, etc., USASF Coach Credentialing should assure members and parents that a cheer credentialed coach knows how to teach the skills required for a team’s given level or that the dance credentialed coach understands the general dance rules to assist in the safety of their dancers.
