What is an All Star Official?

Officials play a crucial role at USASF-sanctioned competitions by upholding fairness and integrity for all participants. Their presence and oversight add legitimacy to the competition and help maintain the credibility of the sport.

Note:  Legality Officials are not scoring judges. 

Cheer Panel Judge Official

This type of official typically specializes in one of the following categories; Building Skills, Tumbling Skills, Overall Routine, or Deductions.

Legality Official (Cheer and/or Dance)

Focus on the rules of All Star and supporting a fair, competitive environment for all participants.

How to Become a Legality Official

  • Submit and pass a background check through the USASF at your own expense.
  • Take the online abuse prevention education course provided by the USASF.
  • Attend an online or in-person training course for All Star officials at your own expense.
  • Pass the Official certification test administered by the USASF upon training course completion.
  • Accept and follow the Code of Conduct for All Star Officials provided by the USASF upon completion of all course testing.            

Interested in becoming an All Star Official?

The USASF trains and certifies All Star Officials for All Star Cheer (Legality and/or Panel) and All Star Dance (Legality only) on an annual basis.
